Making a claim against a deal

SOLVE

Hi

When we sell a machine we create a deal which is unique by its serial number.  You can not have duplicate serial numbers.

What I am looking at is to increase engagement.  Send a unique voucher from Hubspot with the serial number for the customer to redeem in Shopify.  Shopify is integrated in to Hubspot and will create an Order (used to be a deal, since the upgrade it now creates orders) and need to link that back to the deal or just to the customer.

I have created a property that is unique in Orders so that the customer can ONLY claim one voucher per machine.  So if they order 5 machines they can claim five times (once for each machine)

Is this possible

If not possible is there a more effective way of doing this

Making a claim against a deal

Hi @JGray30,

Without knowing the nuances here, I'd consider custom objects for this (if you have Enterprise). I'd consider:

  • A machine custom object (with your unique serial number)
  • A voucher custom object (you can limit the association between this and the machine as 1:1)
  • I would automatically create the associated voucher object to the machine object at the point all details about the machine are known
  • The machine object would also be associated to the deal and customer (contacts if needed as well)
  • I would want something sent back to the HubSpot order from Shopify indicating that voucher id (or whatever you're using) so I can set the status of that to used and maintain the appropriate associations
  • You can use your voucher and machine custom object properties as personalization tokens in your marketing emails (don't use hyphens in your custom object names)

There are likely ways to accomplish this in other ways (maybe even the object library if you don't have enterprise), but this is the direction I'd take so I could do this all within HubSpot.

Feel free to book a meeting if you'd like to chat through this in more detail.

Thanks for the ping, @Jaycee_Lewis!

Hi, @JGray30 👋 Thanks for the interesting question. This one feels like it's trickier than it seems at first glance. Hey, @Josh @HFisher7 @RSchweighart do you have any HubSpot native or 3rd party suggestions for @JGray30's tough challenge?

Thanks! — jaycee
