Log & Track Email Default Settings are a Disaster

The screeshots say it all. As does the fact that a Googe search brings back numerous results saying "how do I stop Hub spot from adding contacts for every email". It's super frustrating that after causing hours and hours of unncessary data cleanup, now once again for some bizarre reason Hubspot is trying to overwrite the settings I carefully chose.

Hey @DH7, thank you for posting in our Community!

 

To confirm, if the setting to automatically 'track and log' is on in your settings the option to manually 'track' and 'log' from the extension will still also show. I understand this may be not very clear; at the moment this is expected behavior of the Sales Extension UI as the UI will still stay static regardless of the settings being selected.

 

I would be more than happy to pass feedback along internally as a feature request for this to be changed in the future. I would also suggest posting this idea in our ideas forum here; the ideas forum is where HubSpot developers look to improve the tool in the future. I hope this clarifies and please feel free to reach back out with any questions on this.

Feefdback on the forum while I am at it :-):

- I don't need the forum to email me that I accepted a reply as a solution. I am the one that accepted it. Who comes up with this stuff?

- I have turned off "notify me of new badges" and I am still being emailed about it...or maybe "ranking" is different and there is no place to turn it off.

Than you thank you thank you Pam! I'd previusly looked everywhere under settings to see if there was any central way I could manage these settings. Silly me, I expected to find them under something like....."email settings" 😂, not under "activities". Regardless I am thrilled to have found them. My main complaint is how HS defaults the settings, and doesn't really supply any useful hints.

For instance it would be great if somewhere in the extension setting it warned you that as the default it's about to create new contacts from every email you respond to, or perhaps provided a link to the Activities section. Anyhow, loving everything regardless, thanks again!
