Linking Quotes to custom objects

SOLVE

Hi all

Within our HubSpot environment, we are testing setting up a custom object for an entirely different type of customer. Most of our customers end up in Companies, however some of our customers are so different in terms of requirements, the team that deals with them, the systems they use, etc, that it makes sense just to create a whole new Custom Object for them.

I've associated Deals with this new object so we can track deals against them. However, when I go and try and create a Quote against a Deal associated with the custom object, in Buyer Information I can only link the quotes to contacts or companies. I can't link them to my custom object. Is there any way to do this?

Linking Quotes to custom objects

SOLVE

Hi @BPR ,

Currently, it is not possible to directly associate quotes with custom objects in HubSpot. As you've noticed, when creating a quote against a deal associated with your custom object, the Buyer Information section only allows quotes to be linked to standard objects like Contacts or Companies.

This limitation exists because HubSpot does not support quotes as a selectable object for associations with custom objects. Custom objects can be associated with Deals, Companies, Contacts, and other custom objects, but not directly with Quotes.

In your scenario, the quote must remain associated with a Deal. The quote creation process will automatically pull in the associated Contact and associated Company from that Deal. Unfortunately, custom objects are not part of this workflow at this time.

Recommendations:

If you're looking to configure quotes for your customers effectively, consider using the standard CRM objects—Deals, Contacts, and Companies—instead of custom objects for this purpose. This approach ensures compatibility with the quoting tool and avoids any limitations in associations.

Understood, thank you. I guess we will store all information in Companies and just rely on views to ensure there is a degree of segregation between different types of customers.

Appreciate the help.
