It's impossible to do email reporting using HubSpot - prove me wrong!

Hi everyone, 

My sales team have been sending 35 different emails, one by one through HubSpot. Each has a specific subject line. 

I want to generate a report on the following: 

- Who has recieved the email (easy, filter by activity - "Subject line = XYZ) 

- Of those that recieved, who opened it 

I've tried lists and custom cross object reporting. On the reporting side, I've added two filters. 

One is activities based filter - Email Subject = XYZ 

One is contacts based filter - Email OPEN date = between April - August 

This theoretically should bring up all the contacts who recieved that particular email in that time range, and opened it. However after I export the data, the "activity type" column is filled for every contact with "Email sent to contact" - after reviewing 20 contacts individually, I can confirm the filter doesn't work and only show recipients of the emails, NOT just the email opens, which is the data I am after. 

As email is a key metric within HubSpot, I'm shocked that this functionality isn't up to scratch. Can we please fix this functionality, I can't use this CRM unless this is added soon.

We've just built a custom dashboard for a client busy tracking how successful their email campaigns are. They can track sent and opened amongst many other options. I'd be happy to show you what we've done for them.
