Is there a way to import Contact to Company association labels?

SOLVE

Hi there,

I'm looking to import a bunch of Contacts from another CRM into HubSpot but assign them to a Company, but also flag their association with that Company using an Association Label.

Is there a way to do that in bulk without having to manually go through an update each one individually?

Hi @McBainKD,

Yes, this is possible, see here: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/import-and-export/set-up-your-import-file#association-and-deduplicatio...

  • To import association labels (Professional and Enterprise only), include an Association label column. You must create the association labels in HubSpot prior to importing.
    • To set a company association as primary, include the value Primary in the Association label column for that row.
    • To set multiple labels to describe the relationship between two records, you can include multiple association label values in one cell, separated by a semicolon (e.g., Manager; Billing contact).
    • If you're importing association labels in a multiple file import, you need to include the Association label column and a unique identifier for the object you're associating in the same file.
    • If you're importing paired labels for cross-object associations, only include one of the labels in the Association label column. The labels will be assigned to the correct object during the import process.

You can find sample files here: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/import-and-export/set-up-your-import-file#multiple-objects-with-associ...

Great replies from the others here. I just wanted to add that if you wanted to migrate your data and assocation labels directly from one CRM to the other, you can do that with MigrateMyCRM. We support migrating labels from other CRMs, such as contact roles in Salesforce, tags/labels in Keap, etc.

Best of luck!

Absolutely! You can import both the association and label during your import. Here's how:

  1. Include a column for the Company's unique identifier (e.g., email address).
  2. Include another column for the desired Association Label (pre-created in HubSpot settings).

During the import, map these columns to the "Associated [Unique Identifier]" and "Association Label" options, respectively. This will bulk-associate your contacts and add the chosen label!
