Importing Error

Hi,

we are uploading contacts on a weekly basis. In the sheet that we are uploading, we are (sometimes) also changing properties on the associated companies. For this purpose, we are choosing the domain as the URI, as we sometimes do not have the company created in HubSpot and therefore can not use the HubSpot Record ID. 

Now to my question: 

Sometimes we are having issues with the upload - When the Domain of the Company (example-company.de) is used by more than one company, for example in Group-Accounts of the companies, it does not change the properties on the company level. 

This results in an error of the upload. 

Is it a problem that we get this error? Is there any (along term) consequence for receiving this error? 

For us it is not a problem that the properties are not updated, I just want to check in if the error itself can cause any problems for us.

Hey @maulpaurer,

Nothing will happen because of that error. Anyway if you want to solve that problem I recomend you to use the Google sheet integration on workflows to send company data to a sheet everytime a company is created, that way by VLOOKUP you can check if the company is already inside Hubspot or not and select the Record Id to make the correct association 🙂

@maulpaurer if you make that integration you will be able to make a data check on the list of accounts you want to add to Hubspot before the import.

Let's say your Hubspot <> Google Sheet integrations sends all companies to a sheet called "[Master Data] Companies" with Company name, Company Domain and Record ID - Everytime you have a import to make you use the company name or company domain column on that import sheet and use VLOOKUP to go to the "[Master Data] Companies" sheet and get the record ID of that specific company.

That way you're sure that only new companies will create new records on Hubspot since all the other will already have the record ID associated to them making it easier for Hubspot to know they are already exist instead of duplicating them
