Importing Contacts ...

SOLVE

First day in Hubspot.

I understand that you can import either Contacts or Companies.  The trianing says that Hubspot might find and create a Company based on the specific email of the Contact.

Well, I just imported 94 Contacts and Hubspot didn't create one Company.  Am I missing something?  Now I get to go create 94 Companies manually and then associate the Contact to the Company?

That's kind of a lot of work...

(I will never understand why a CRM doesn't handle this)

Did you have “automatically create and associate companies with contacts” enabled during the import?

Mark - thanks for the reply.  Turns out (a) the training videos on Import do not mention that, although they do say that, based on the email address, Hubspot will look on the web for that company and create it for you, and (b) I looked to do anothe Import, and I do not have the radial button you cited.  I signed up for Hubspot's "trial" period, and I am now concluding that the features are limited.  I find that to be pretty "destructive," if I have it right.  After one day of usage, I am "over invested" in the tool.  Probably have (6) hours into it looking to solve a couple of hiccups (no direct support on the "freebie"), and now I have a tainted early "data set."    So far, I have found that email notifications are inconsistent, that I cannot effectively import a list, there is no direct support for my trial, and I made the error of not copying posts in the Community dialogue boxes (like this one), which was frustrating because I've have (3) posts evaporate with error messages.

Sure, you gotta tough it out with any new piece of software ... It's just a good thing I don't live on the water where I could see sailboats needing a computer as a second boat anchor ...

Thanks for your help.  I conclude now that I have to buy from Hubspot; otherwise I have an impairment to using their toolset.
