I imported contacts and mapped company to "Company Name", but they aren't associated with a company

I painstakingly imported several thousand contacts and mapped company to the "Company Name" property. On each contact's page, however, it shows company as blank. Each contact now has a company name property but no associated company, and when I google how to connect them, all I get is the generic "hubspot automatically creates companies with the email address domain", which is useless for me, as I don't track people's work emails.

Does anybody know how to create this association? Or am I out of luck? Thanks in advance 🙂

HI @warrenbisch ,

In order to create associations, you can do one of two things.

1. ) Import 100% of your contacts with a business email and make sure that the below box is checked at settings > Objects > Companies > Setup Tab.

2.) Alternately, you can include the Company Domain Name in each row of your import file (ie Amazon.com) or the HubSpot Record ID of the company and check this box when you get to this screen:

Then choose Companies and Contacts like this:

Then specify the the column with the Company Domain name in it as the Record ID for Company.  HubSpot will use this to match your contacts to the appropriate company.
