I can't import new deals in bulk (deals that don't have a Deal ID yet)

 When importing multiple new deals that don't have a Deal ID yet, I get the error message '' is not a valid deal ID (from column 'Deal ID')
Should I just make up a new deal ID in order for the deals to be created, or is manual input the only way to create the deals? 

On another note,  for existing deals, if I try to update multiple deal stages through .csv import, hubspot errors with: "Can't process 'Commercial Proposal Sent' into an unambiguous enumeration option (from column 'dealstage')"

Can anybody help me with this?

There is a possibility to associate deals to existing contacts while importing from a CSV with a third-party solution Import2 Wizard.

Once you upload a CSV with deals, on a mapping step you can map the link to contacts. Here is a quick video overview of how it works: https://youtu.be/t43LluoZI0I.

It would be helpful to know the original source of the Deals.csv. Where are these deals from?

Not necessarely an export from another system, as it would be just written down in excel to be added more quickly into Hubspot than to input every deal separately.

Gotcha. Here's the thing, your NEW 'imported' deals will not be auto-associated with any contacts or companies in HubSpot. As long as you're good with that, see Set up your import file and download the Deal Sample Spreadsheet [download].

You may wish to start by importing just a couple deals to see how it will work for you. The HubSpot NEW deal import process can be very time-consuming. (not recommended) Actually, just faster to create the deals directly in HubSpot, so they're properly associated with the corect contact/company entities. (important)

Short A: Yes.

Longer A:

Beginning in December, the ability to import notes into HubSpot is now built-in fuctionality. AND you can now associate deals with contacts.
