@ebooster Exactly what was said above and then you can go to contacts and use property filters (left hand pane) to get the lists down to those you would like to assign to, then select all, click actions, edit properties, assign company owner.

I am afraid I made an assumption when I stated my use case, which now I don't think is correct, so I need some further help.
I oversimplified the case. In fact, I want
Fred, Toni and Jane to see Consulting clients
Sue, Victor and Maria to see Training clients.
I had assumed I could do this, but I guess I can only have 1 owner. I don't mind having a nominated owner (a supervisor, for example) but I would like to have only the nominated people with rights to view and edit the clients in their specific area of business.
