How to allocate contacts to users?

Hi all

Hubspot newbie here.

I have several contacts which fall into multiple lines of business, say Training (Client X, Y Z) and Consulting (Clients A, B, C)

I have these contacts tagged so I can separate each list.

However I want to assign different members of my staff to each group.

I want Sue to see Training contacts only.  I want Fred to see Consulting contacts only.

How to I do this please?  I am a basic (free) user.

Chris

Hi @ebooster

You need to make those users the 'Contact Owner' and then limit their permissions so that they can only see the contacts they own.

Hope this helps.

@ebooster  Exactly what was said above and then you can go to contacts and use property filters (left hand pane) to get the lists down to those you would like to assign to, then select all, click actions, edit properties, assign company owner.

Thank you both

I am afraid I made an assumption when I stated my use case, which now I don't think is correct, so I need some further help.

I oversimplified the case.  In fact, I want

Fred, Toni and Jane to see Consulting clients

Sue, Victor and Maria to see Training clients.

I had assumed I could do this, but I guess I can only have 1 owner.  I don't mind having a nominated owner (a supervisor, for example) but I would like to have only the nominated people with rights to view and edit the clients in their specific area of business.

Any thoughts?

Hi @ebooster

To ahcieve that, you would need access to teams - which is a paid feature of the Sales Hub Pro product.

Hope this helps.
