How to add tags to contacts?

Since all the other thread are already old and the solutions no longer avaiable, here again the question:

How can I add tags to a contact?

For example I have several costumers booking a Journey. I want tags for which journey they booked.

Or there are signing for a golf weekend. So I need tags for which tournament they signed in etc... so I can make lists for the suppliers out of it..

Thank you!

Hi @YBrüggemann,

Generally it's best practice to use custom properties for this: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/create-and-edit-properties

For example, you can create a property with multiple checkboxes. This would not be called a tag but generally behave like one.

This is how you would edit your "tags": https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/update-a-property-value-for-a-record

Best regards!

IMO this is one of the biggest blunders of HubSpot. Tagging is one of the most important features of any CRM, to assist in searching, categorizing, etc. This solution that people suggest of "adding custom fields/properties" is a workaround that is cumbersome at best and actually doesn't really address the missing functionality. HubTags seemed like an ideal solution, but they just went under. Hubspot really needs to add this as a feature, ASAP!

A TAG function with TAG Cloud would be an absolutely amazing addition to this already incredible solution.

I'm migrating to HubSpot.  In our old CRM we would create scores of tags.  Some were pretty consistent (existing customer, decision maker, etc), but some would be used to search/filter for certain people before launching a sales campaign.  For example if I want to send out a sales sequence on a new product launch, we would filter for the right business type/title, then export to excel,  delete the contacts we did NOT want to send the sequence to, and with the correct contacts we'd upload the names with a new tag.  The reason we did this is I might have 20 people at the same copmany with the correct title.  We don't want to spam, so used this as a way to only send it to one person per company.

It sounds like I can filter in Hubspot based on business type and title, but how can I bulk de-select the 19 people (an arbitrary number I made up) from the same company and only send to one?

I konw I can create a custom property, but not sure of the best approach.  If I choose "multiple checkboxes" then the names of tags have to be preconfigured (right???).  But if I choose single text and have a tag today of "existing customer" then tomorrow want to add one of "new product launch", it is going to show up as one big jumbled text field when I try to run filters on it.
