Help with migrating ACTIVE Campaigns/Workflows from Pardot to Hubspot

SOLVE

We are migrating marketing automation from a Pardot account to Hubspot, and were looking for best practices on how to migrate ACTIVE campaigns/workflows.

Specifically, what is best practice for campaigns/workflows that will remain active when Pardot is turned off and Hubspot marketing pro is turned on? If a customer is in the middle of a long workflow, how do we best keep them in the appropriate workflow while retaining their progress to ensure they are not re-enrolled in the workflow from the begenning and remain in their appropriate stage?

Any insights or resources would be appreciated!

Help with migrating ACTIVE Campaigns/Workflows from Pardot to Hubspot

SOLVE

Hi @Va2,

Can you keep Pardot running for a bit, while you're getting everything set up in HubSpot? The key to your challenge are exclusion lists. Ideally, you'd keep your Pardot workflows running, preventing any new contacts from entering. The alternative – switching them off immediately – would increase complexity a lot. (You'd have to find a way that allows contacts to enter the new HubSpot workflows at the exact action that was their last one in Pardot. Almost impossible to manage.)

While some of your contacts are finishing your old Pardot workflows, you would set up the same workflows in HubSpot. Any new contact would enroll here. This is also where (static) exclusion lists come in. You need to suppress all contacts who have already gone ore are currently going through the same workflows in Pardot.

Once all contacts have completed their Pardot workflows, you can switch off Pardot and transition to HubSpot.

(If you have workflows that extend over weeks or months, you'd have to figure out a way to break these longer workflows into smaller modules and work with even more exclusion lists. It might make sense to seize the opportunity to radically simplify or modularize your workflows.)

Hope this helps!
