You could create a custom object that is called Dormant Contacts. With this, you can have the Protecting Pipeline and create automation that when a contact is in this stage in the dormant pipeline update their contact property (Dormant Pipeline Stage) to reflect the current stage.

HubSpot has a new beta, the prospecting workspace, which comes very close to what you're looking for: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/prospecting/use-the-prospecting-workspace

It's not a dedicated pipeline but allows you to track the status of those dormant contacts.

There are multiple benefits to looking into this new beta:

• HubSpot will continue to improve the feature set.
• Your requirement for it to work for both dormant and regular contacts is met.
• Activity on those contacts can be easily tracked.
• It's separate from your regular pipeline.
