HELP You've reached your 1,000 contact limit

A few posts are about this but none really get a specific answer to the problem.

We have a newish free account, with 1592 imported contacts.

At the top of the page there's a banner: You've reached your 1,000 contact limit. 

Most people acknowledge that Hubspot allows 1 million or so Contacts, even with a free plan.

However, 'Marketing Contacts' are limited to 1,000 or higher per plan.

Trouble is I cannot find any way to un-select a contact from being on the marketing contact list. (If this is even what is causing the issue)

But no option under the More dropdown. Does that mean we are not using marketing contacts?

I can't create new and i can't import, due to the limit

I don't seem to have the options mentioned. Only: 

Products & Add-ons

• Free Tools
• Free Marketing Tools
• Free Sales Tools
• Free Service Tools
• Free Content Tools
• Free Operations Tools

We do not need a marketing list of 1000 people

So we cant add new Contacts!

Any ideas?

Would be very happy if someone could figure this out.

Sadly, this is not referring to marketing contacts but contact records regardless of their marketing contact status. This was changed a while ago: https://www.hubspot.com/products/crm

For a higher contact limit, you would have to upgrade to a paid subscription.
