Formatting "Quote Description" to display a property as a table instead of a bulk text.

SOLVE

Hey all,

This is a bit of a weird ask but I'm wondering if someone can help me configure my Quote templates to align to our business needs.

I've built out the Template description to include custom Deal properties after our reps fill out a playbook with the relevant information, but I'm trying to think of a way to display information in a table format as opposed to just the property displaying in a block of text.

I figured I'd need to update a module or something in the Quote Template or CMS editor but I can't for the life of me figure out where. I was thinking of making it so that for each comma, a new line item would form - if that's doable.

My workaround would be to just make a workflow to update multiple properties and then separate them out as individual line items but I'd rather not have to do that.

Thanks!

Hey @McBainKD

I understand what you’re trying to achieve with your Quote templates. Displaying custom Deal properties in a table format rather than in a block of text can make the information much clearer for your reps. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to configure your Quote templates to display information in a table format.

1. Use the CMS Editor

You can update your Quote templates directly through the HubSpot CMS editor. Here’s how:

  • Navigate to your Quote templates: Go to Sales > Quotes in your HubSpot account.
  • Edit the template: Click on the quote template you want to edit.
  • Insert a table: Use the HTML editor within the CMS to insert a table. You can format your custom properties into this table. Here's a helpful guide on using the CMS editor that might come in handy.

2. Custom Modules

Creating a custom module might also be an effective solution. This allows you to format the properties as needed. Follow these steps:

  • Create a custom module: Go to Marketing > Files and Templates > Design Tools.
  • Add fields to the module: Add your custom Deal properties to this module.
  • Format with a table: Use HubL (HubSpot Markup Language) to format the properties in a table. This tutorial on creating custom modules will guide you through the process.

3. Workflow-Based Solution

If you prefer not to create a custom module, another approach is to use workflows to manage the data. Here’s how you can do it:

  • Create a workflow: Go to Automation > Workflows.
  • Set triggers and actions: Set triggers based on your reps filling out the playbook and actions to update multiple properties.
  • Format in the quote: Ensure each property is displayed as a separate line item in the quote template. You might find this guide on workflows useful.

4. Using Rich Text or Multi-line Text Fields

If you want to stick with the existing template structure, consider using rich text or multi-line text fields to manually format the information:

  • Edit the property: Go to Settings > Properties and find the custom Deal property you want to edit.
  • Use rich text: Format the property as rich text, which allows you to use line breaks and other formatting options. This article on property fields will provide more details.

By following these steps, you should be able to format your Quote descriptions to display properties in a table format, making it much easier for your reps to read and use the information.

Hey @McBainKD ,

If you hit a brick wall with HubSpot's quote solution, I'm pretty sure we'll be able to help. We have an quote automation app for HubSpot called Portant. It it will give you more control over the data included in your quote, including using any Custom Property or perfoming custom calulations on the properties). We use Google Docs or Slides to allow you to design the quote to look exactly the way you want it to. I made a short 60s video about it here:

Here is a quote workflow template to copy: https://app.portant.co/templates/tmp_ZpHlwKXVgWhCvm
You can check it out the app here:
