Is there any way to stop a deal moving to another stage until certain company fields have been filled out?

No. Mandatory properties in HubSpot Deals must be Deal properties. You'll want to see this post for further discussion (and the knowledge base reference).

 

One workaround might be to...

-1- create the needed company-centric properties as deal properties.

-2- make those company-centric deal properties mandatory.

-3- use a workflow to copy those company-centric deal properties to the associated company for the deal.

 

A long walk just to move one step ahead, but one step ahead nonetheless.

Nick, we do this all the time when overlaying custom sales processes into the HubSpot CRM. Frank's solution is the right one. However, you may need to layer in additional automation if your requirements are more nuanced that your initial question.

Basically we have handover requirements between each stage of the funnel and also when the deal closes. Ideally we'd like the deal to be blocked from moving until they have been enforced. I know that's probably more dream state than anything else!
