Hello, I imported an Excel file of 1,415 companies. I received the notification that my import was complete and it showed that 1,455 companies were created. I confirmed and HubSpot created several duplicate companies from my original file. Why were duplicate companies created that were not included in my file?
Could you share a screenshot of the notice that you saw or specify what exactly it said?
I'd be surprised if HubSpot created records based on information not included in the import file. Usually, duplicates are created when HubSpot can't find a unique identifier, neither the Company ID nor Company domain name. If these are missing, HubSpot can't deduplicate records and will potentially create a second, third etc. record.
Best regards!

Thank you for your response. The notification was just letting me know the import was complete. My Excel file had 1,415 companies, but 1,455 were created today. That's an additional 40 records that were not included in my file. How would that be possible?
Where are you getting the 1,455 from? Is it possible that the file has more rows after scrolling down further? Could it be that other users have manually created companies? Or does the import log say 1,455 records created?
Best regards
