Difference between search fields in HubSpot CRM and apparent duplicate entries

We found what appears to be duplicate entries when searching for companies by name on the top menu search field of HubSpot CRM (the one next to the training and certifications icon). This has caused some confusion as there is only one record on the list of companies, yet, when clicking on each of the multiple results, the URL shows a different number at the end for each entry and the contents of each entry are different (in one instance there is a result with a history of notes and a couple of results without it).
When searching on the Search for a company field (the one next to the actions drop down box), we actually get the only entry we have for the organization with all of its content. This has created some confusion as it appears like we have duplicate entries when we don't.
Could someone please explain the difference between both search fields, and why the one on the top menu provides multiple results with different URLs for the same company?
