Determining a companies first win date

Hello,

I need to create a workflow that will populate the company won date on a company record. Essentailly this field should only be populated with the date the company won their first deal. How would I create a workflow that would populate the company won date field for a company based on the first deal won date? Seeing that this would be going back in time I'm confused on what workflow to create to make sure it gets the first deal close date

Once that's done, I'd switch to a workflow that enrolls companies with one associated deal where that associated deal is one and stamp the date – less complicated then keeping the above workflow running.
