Delete all the tasks for a specific contact

SOLVE

Is there a way I can delete all the tasks for a specific contact?

Here is the long version. Our sales team migrated over from Salesforce to HubSpot. While they were in SF they had email logging turned on. In addition to that, almost every employee was also a contact in SF. Therefore, (and unbeknownst to us) most internal emails were being logged in SF under those contacts...including HR related emails.

When we migrated over to HubSpot, those email records migrated over as completed tasks. (Long story, not important to this issue.) So now our HR employee, who is also a contact in HS, has 100s or 1,000s of completed tasks that are actually emails sent from other employees. Most are harmless, but there's always that chance of a bored employee finding out, then digging through the records.

So again, is there a way I can delete completed tasks for a specific contact?

Hi @Zbatty ,

In theory, yes. You should be able to do this somewhat efficiently.

Try this...

Navigate to Sales >> Tasks >> More (left column dropdown) >> Completed, and then filter by "Associated With" >> Select All >> Delete.

I hope this helps!

Cheers,

Hi @Zbatty,

If you are still experiencing this issue, please let us know. The solution @Krystina suggested for filtering by owner is an option in all subscription levels.

If you can share more around what your end goal is, and how we can assist, that would be great!

Completed tasks filter by ownerCompleted tasks filter by owner

Thank you,

Jenny

@Zbatty

I'm so sorry to hear that you're still experiencing issues, that's frustrating! 😕 I wish I had a better point-and-click solution for you!

I'd be happy to jump on a Zoom call with you if you would like to screen share with me. Sometimes things come to light better in working sessions. 🙂

Let me know if there is anything else I might be able to do to assist.

Cheers,

I don't want to get too far off topic, but I have seen this in some of my other posts. Somebody posts a potential answer (for which I'm grateful) and then assigns that as a solution. My guess is that the more solutions somebody provides the more points they get in the community. It seems a little self-serving, especially when that wasn't a solution.

As I said in an earlier comment, I don't need to sort by the task owner, I need to sort by the contact to which the task is assigned. I cannot filter or sort by that criteria.

I can't filter by "Associated With". Only Users, Types, Priorities, and Time.

Can you re-order the list of tasks by "Associated With" so that the tasks are at least organized by contact in your view?

It may be a bit manual, but then you should be able to use your judgement to select which tasks to delete...

Happy to jump in a quick Zoom call to help troubleshoot...

For some reason that is not a sortable or re-orderable column. Strange.
