Deduplication Upon Import - Company Name vs. Company Domain Name
SOLVE
Hey Everyone,
My lead lists I import into Hubspot do not have the Company Domain Name. Is it possible to deduplicate imports based on Company Name instead? If so, how do you do that?
If not, is there a quick way to solve for this? None of my companies in Hubspot have company domain names so those would all need to be updated and then I'd have to mass update my lead lists to include this too. No clue how to do either of those efficiently and effectively.
The record ID you can get by exporting your companies - it will always be present in exports. You would then have to use VLOOKUP or a similar formula to match the record ID to your new import file. During the import, you would then map the record ID.
All other approaches would entail creating duplicates first, then deduplicating again. This can be done with the native deduplication features or with third party tools like Insycle.
Best regards!

As Karsten said, HubSpot's default import settings only check the domain and record ID.
But I also wanted to share that Insycle can help with this. Full disclosure — I work for Insycle. But we sound like we might be just what you are looking for.
You can set your own unique ID matching fields, so you could ensure that new imports are being checked against existing Company Names.
Additionally, you can setup complementary deduplication templates using our Merge Duplciates module, which can identify and merge duplicates super flexibly. Then, you can automate it to run on a set schedule or even inject deduplication templates into Hubspot Workflows so that they are analyzed and merged immediately after entering your CRM.
Let me know if you need any clarification on how it works, happy to help.
