Deals moving across pipelines incorrectly

how can I set up a workflow that automatically moves a deal back to its original pipeline if it gets moved inappropriately?

No need for a workflow (at least if you're on Sales Hub Professional or higher). This can be done with pipeline rules 🙂 https://knowledge.hubspot.com/object-settings/set-up-rules-for-deal-pipelines
