Deactivate a Contact

Spoiler
I have a contact who is no longer with a client and I would like to deactivate his contact record or the equivalent to indicate he has moved on. What is best practice for this siutation? Only option I see is to export and delete and that doesn't seem like a great one. Thanks

Hi @RandyJ,

There really is not an option to deactivate  a contact. You can always delete a contact at any time; you can also create a custom property to indicate if the contact is active and build a saved filter based on that property.  Does this help?

Thank you,

Ed Justen

That's really not much of a solution. You would NEVER want to DELETE a contact, you just don't want to contact them at THAT company anymore.

EDODGE is right. You never want to delete a contact...all tracking is lost. I want to deactivate (or inactivate) an account and be able to reactivate once they land somewhere else. This is common in Salesforce and other CRM software.
