Customise 404 Pages

Hi there, I'm looking to create a 404 page. Am I able to create an template that I can then build using modules (similar to webpages and landing pages) where myslef or a team member can drag and drop?

I found this page which shows how I can set up the page as HTML & HubL https://knowledge.hubspot.com/design-manager/use-system-templates-to-customize-error-subscription-an....

I can then add modules to the page in the design manager, but how do I then use the the template to select what the module content looks like? When building webpages and landing pages I select a template that loads the modules on that page in. I then select the content for the module and also have the option to drag in other modules if the template allows.

All I can see is that you can select the template in the page settings area under System Pages. But this doesn't allow you to edit what the modules actually show.

Just using the design builder sets up the template to load a module in. Modules can have options to add tiles, thumbails descriptions as you build out content that change what content they show and can also add further content. The html template just sets up the module ready for use.

If I add a resouce card module how do I specify what cards it shows? For a webpage this is done in the webpage builder. module won't show anything. It needs a page builder in order for someone to add the module content.

Why can't these pages be built similar to webpages and landing pages where a template is selected and then the content built out by dragging and dropping modules and adding rich text.

Only someone with understand of html and hubl could build a 404 page. Content administrators might want to edit 404 pages with new content. That is where the drag and drop webpage and landing page area works well. Easy to use for any crm user.

Thanks

Hi @Woodsy currently the 404 page and system templates have to be set via code and aren't accessible via the drag-and-drop editor.

I've previously created an idea in the community to request this functionality. You can upvote the idea and share your feedback in the comments, that's the best way to reach the product team.

Hi @Woodsy,

Just like @Jnix284 mentioned, the 404 page is a system template that can only be edited via HTML.

As a temporary workaround, until (hopefully) HubSpot launches a drag-and-drop editor for system templates, you can create a page via the page editor, copy the source (via view source) and paste it into your 404 template.
