Creating contacts with no email address

Our company is planning a CRM migration from Dynamics 365/CRM to Hubspot.

We have over 200k contacts, with ~25k having no email address.  We want to load these all in, but when loading via SSIS (KingswaySoft Hubspot connector) or any manually without an email address, it fails with the email being invalid.

I see the below "Please Note" states that is is possible to create contacts without email addresses, but there is no instructions on how to do this.      

Would someone please advise how I can disable this constraint, as not all our contacts choose to notify us of their email address.

Please note: although it is possible to add contacts to the CRM without an email address, it is not generally recommended because HubSpot uses the email address to deduplicate contacts andautomatically associate contacts with companies.

According to a number of sources, it should be possble to import contacts into HubSpot with no email address. The issue perhaps lies with the kingsway soft connector - have you consulted them about this? 

As an alternative, are you able to import the contacts via CSV? This should allow the no-email contacts to get in.

Hello, @JenniferGibbs as long as you have either First name, Last name or Email you can import the contacts. So in your specific situation, if you don't have an email address, as long as you have either a First name or Last name you will be able to import contacts without their email address.

This is not true what you are saying here.
You can import contacts without first name, last name and email.
You just need to have them as column headers but there isn't a need to have a value inside them.

So if there is a need to put for example only numbers into your crm as contacts it is possible to do that.

After we found out how to set email address as optional, we determined that the issue was with the HubSpot connector.   KingswaySoft have promptly fixed for us by giving us a pre-release build/fix.  

Expect this will be officially bundled by them in near future.

If anyone needs asap, please contact them separately.

Hi @stueyu,

I would download the CSV and attempt an upload to Hubspot manually.

If that doesn't work, contact Hubspot support and request they do a backend upload.

I have gone through the API documentation and I found that the Bulk API will need the email address in order to create a contact.

Is there any method which can create contact in bulk without using the email address.
