I work for a children's software company and our community is made up of families including children ages 4 - 12. We want to be able to refer to the kids names and ages in marketing emails. It seems like the only way to do that would be to create individual contacts for each child and establish a parent and child relationship between them.
Wondering if anyone has experience with this, and has a better solution?
From a first glance, this would require a Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise subscription. I'm assuming that children don't have their own email addresses and that there can be more than 1 child per parent – if that's not the case, let me know and the below will get easier.
Here's how I would approach this:
Create contact records for each child
Use a custom contact property to differentiate between parent and child
Send emails using the contact workflow action 'Send internal marketing email' where you can choose a recipient's address based on a property
This seems to be the easiest/cheapest way to bypass HubSpot's limitation that only one contact can have an email address and it cannot be shared among users.
If budget is not a concern, then I'd recommend an Enterprise subscription and creating a custom object for children. You can then create children-based workflows and deliver the emails to the associated parent-contacts.
Without these subscription, this is not possible in HubSpot.
Let me know if you have any follow-up questions!

With custom properties you can achive this but it will be quite cumborsome to craete if families have more children than you have custom properties. You can take trial for HubSpot Entreprsie Subscription and try ctreating Custom Objects to represent child, Create properties for the custom object such as Child Age, Achild Name, Parent's Contact ID. This way you will have more structured and organized data. It just that you will be needing developer's help for that.
Hope this helps! Thanks
