Creating Company from Contact on case by case basis
SOLVE
I don't want companies created for all my clients as I operate B to C mainly. However, to supply a range of services I have many associate companies that assist in that provision.
So for a particular company associate contact, is there an automated way of creating a company but just specificaly for that individual.
It cannot be disabled and enabled for specific companies. It's either entirely on or entirely off.
With a Professional subscription and access to workflows, you could set up the following configuration:
Create a custom single checkbox contact property 'Create company'
Create a contact-based workflow that enrolls contacts where 'Create company' is set to 'Yes'
Use the 'Create record' workflow action to create a new company record, populating the 'Company domain name' with the 'Email domain' of the contact record and the company record's name with the contact's 'Company name'
Start checking the property from step 1 when you want a company created automatically
Keep in mind that the settings linked also assist with linking all contacts with a certain email domain to their respective company. If you turn it off, you might have some contacts who sit around as 'orphans' who don't automatically get associated to an existing company.
Best regards!

@PlanetPluto perhaps starting with turning off the automatic creation of companies and manually associating the companies on a case-by-case basis is the best place to start since you're not ready to jump to a Pro subscription.
While automation is nice, it's important to have a clear process around what you're automating before you implement it. Without more insight into your use case, it's hard to provide further guidance, but I have questions like: Is the assocation really necessary at the contact level, or would it make more sense for a deal?
If my reply answered your question please mark it as a solution to make it easier for others to find.
