Copy property values from one object to another

SOLVE

I am trying to copy the custom property values of a contact object to a company object. I have created  2 custom fields in both objects.

I am creating a new record by entering the values in the custom property of the contact object so once the record is created the same values need to be copied in the company object.

Let me know if there is any workflow that needs to be created & if yes assist me with the solution.

Copy property values from one object to another

Hi @GaurangW,

If you're always updating the value one one object, and the other should simply reflect it, you can use a sync property instead: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/create-sync-properties

It'll simply copy what the other property is showing.

If you want more control over when something is copied over, you can use a workflow with it's "Copy property value" workflow action:

Let me know if you have any follow-up questions!

@karstenkoehler has the "Copy Property Value" action been removed from Hubspot? I see the new Edit Property action but when selected it will not let me copy a property over to another?

I see you mentioned the sync property type, I don't think I want this property as we will be removing the old property and be using the new property only in the future so there is no need to sync moving forward.

Thanks

@karstenkoehler

Thank you for the reply. I tried the solution of property sync that you provided. However, the same solution works in the sandbox but not in the live environment.

@GaurangW in that case, you have two options: Can you please either share detailed screenshots of the sync property configuration and records where it's visible that this is not working (both source and target record screenshots with values shown)? Alternatively, you could close this thread (if you main question is answered) and have HubSpot support help with the troubleshooting.

@GaurangW your property is configured to sync from the first created record – I would assume that the contact record is not the one that was first created.

Yes, I am updating the records that are already available in the HubSpot. The same solution is working in the sandbox where if I am updating at source object then it is automatically getting updated in destination object.

@GaurangW I assume that in your sandbox, you're accidentally picking the right records to update, in your case the one that was first created. Your sync property is configured to only pay attention to the first created associated contact.

@karstenkoehler

I tried changing the property to the most recently created & a few of the records got updated that were failing to update.

The solution is working for sure but somehow few records are not getting updated with either of the property config

@GaurangW it's a bit hard to tell whether you're experiencing a bug or whether it's expected behavior – without being able to poke around in your portal.

I'd recommend reaching out to HubSpot support to clarify.

Alternatively, there's always the option of a workflow, see my first reply. This gives you the flexibility to define exactly which records should be referenced / updated.
