As you know we cannot request company property under pop-up forms. However we collect country fields under company. So If I ask and collect contact's country with pop up form, what is the best way to pull that date under company>country. I thought that a workflow might be the answer however it is not possible to copy and paste property value with dropdown fields. If branch might be the answer but it will be hard to do for 169 county.
I don't know why HubSpot just doesn't make the contact country field a dropdown out of the box, too. Here's what I'd recommend: create a dropdown property on the contact object, use it in forms, and you can copy from contact to company.
That means multiple things:
Unless you're able to temporarily remove all references and clear the default country property, which would allow you to change it's type, you'll have to create a new one and you'll have two. With clear naming ('Country (dropdown)'), I think this is acceptable.
You'll have to do a one time cleanup and turn single line text into into dropdown values. I prefer to export contacts in this scenario and simply map the exported single line text column to the dropdown property upon reimport.
If you want to keep the single line text, a workflow with branches or a custom coded workflow action are the only native and automatic solutions I'm aware of.
Best regards!
