Hi there, I built my dad’s website and I included a privacy policy page in it using a template that I got online, and I thought that the website didn’t use cookies so I didn’t mention anything about cookies in the privacy policy. Yesterday I decided to double check if the website uses cookies by using firefox and I found some data that looks like cookies. Here are some screenshots of what I found:
Are these really cookies? If they are, what do they do? and what must I include in the privacy policy page and the consent banner in order to be legally compliant with the law (considering those cookies)? And how do I create a consent banner (if it is necessary to do so)?
HubSpot's CMS comes built in with analytics and tracking tools, to do this they need cookies. So by virtue of building it on HubSpot CMS yes you are using cookies.
There's more information on all the cookies dropped by the HubSpot CMS available here. The law varies from situation to situation so I couldn't speak to what is legally compliant for your or not. But if you want to add a cookie banner you can easily do that through HubSpot here.

Hey there, the data you found in your dad's website definitely looks like cookies. Cookies are essentially tiny bits of data that websites store on a user's device. They can be used for a variety of purposes, such as remembering login information, tracking browsing behavior, and even for advertising purposes. In terms of legality, it's important to disclose what cookies your website uses in your privacy policy and get user consent before storing any non-essential cookies. I'd recommend checking out some resources online about cookie consent banners and how to create them. There are also tools that can help you scan your website for cookies and generate a privacy policy.
