Contacts creating companies

SOLVE

Hi everyone. I have noticed only in the past week that when I am in a company and create a contact, if the contact email doesn't match the company name (which happens in some businesses) then Hubspot automatically creates a company under the email domain. How do I stop this from happening? I present I keep having to merge the 2 accounts together but I shouldn't have to do this. Thanks

Hi @Kat21 ,

In settings -> Data Management -> Objects -> Company, there should be a setting that you can toggle on and off that says "Create and Associate Companies with Contacts" If that's turned on, every time there is a recognizable company email domain, HubSpot will create the company record for it.

Contacts creating companies

SOLVE

Hi @JWingate2 ,

I want to automatically create a company from a contact. What happens by default is company is being created automatically, out of the domain name. Is it possible for it not to be from the domain name, but from the field set inside the company on creation? For example "company: new name". Also, how do you automatically translate a phone number from a contact to a company?
