Contacts and Companies not associating automatically based on email

I uploaded numerous contacts with the domain name of each contact's company in their emails  (@___.com ) assuming that the new company would automatically be created. 

 

Some contacts resulted in companies created, while others did not. Please let me know why the automatic association/creation is not working, and how I can get it to update all the contacts in the system. Thank you!
