Contact name change error

resolver

We're having an issue where sometimes the contact last name will change to the contact owner's last name automatically. Anyone else have this problem?

@JMitchell18, no. Did you check the details of the property for each contact where this occurred? You can see the history of that field to see how and when it was updated. That would be the first place I would start.

Cheers,

Ray

Hi @JMitchell18,

HubSpot doesn't change the contact's name or update the property until and unless someone changes it manually or it updates automatically like via forms.  Click on the contact's name, check the activity dashboard and go through the activities one by one and see what caused updation of name property.

Hope this helps!

Hi @JMitchell18,

When you navigate to that contact record, check the left sidebar, specifically the "About this contact" section, hover your mouse over first name and click the Details button:

HubSpot will then take you to a log of all values that have ever been in this field and how they were entered:

If you're unsure how to read this, feel free to share a screenshot here. The reason should be listed in the "Source" column.
