I have two contacts in my Google contact list which are erroring off during import, but the process doesn't give my any idea as to which contacts are failing, nor are they telling me why they failed.
I've checked for invalid characters in the name, company name, address, email addresses, and many other fields.
At the risk of making you nuts-er I would try exporting the contacts to a CSV FIle, then import them into HubSpot.
The reason I'm suggesting the extra step is the Error Handling - when importing from CSV - is excellent for forensics. You can then find the offending contacts and correct the issues and it's easier to correct the issues in a spreadsheet.
Here's how to Export from Gmail
From your Gmail account, choose Gmail>Contacts.
Select More >Export.
Choose the contact group you want to export.
Choose the exportformat CSV(for importing into HubSpot).
Choose Export.
When prompted, choose Save As, and browse to a location to save the file.
Have fun
Mike
p.s. the import will de-duplicate Contacts by Email Address and Companies by Domain Name so it's good to include them in your import whenever possible.
Welcome to my world John, the craziness isn't required but it helps.
Happy to have a look at your file and see if I can see any issues.
We had some fun and games trying to import file recently(see here) because it was missing the quotes in fields that included commas - so it was messing up the import.
Thanks again for responding! The CSV file imports with no errors... it's the Google import that has two failures. I just can't figure it out and it really is getting on my nerves - LOL.
Any suggestions other than deleting one at a time and running the import until I find the offending contacts?
Anyway, I am able to import everything using a CSV exported from my Gmail account, but still get errors when trying to import directly from Gmail. It's pretty crazy but I just don't have the time to continue trying to figure this out. It would have been nice to be able to do this in one step instead of two or three...
