Connect Company "Company Type" to Contact "Company Type"?

SOLVE

I'm fairly new at HubSpot and have been struggling on how to tighten up the relationships between objects and their properties. Here's my situation:

We have a basic contact form on our website that uses the Gravity Forms intergration with HubSpot. We can only associate GF fields with Contact object fields in HS. We created a Contact property called "Company Type" that is a drop down select so that the form users can make the selection.

On the HubSpot side, we have a Company "Company Type" property that mirrors the Contact "Company Type".  We want to somehow get that selection from the Contact "Company Type" into the Company "Company Type" field so it's truly associated with the company vs contact.

It sort of feels like I've overcomplicated it a bit, but not sure how to sync the two or if there is a better way.

Thanks!

Connect Company "Company Type" to Contact "Company Type"?

SOLVE

Hi @TeeterVT,

This could be achieved with a company-based workflow, requiring a Professional or Enterprise subscription: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/workflows/create-workflows

You would enroll contacts in that workflow 'When filter criteria is met' and when the company type property is known on the contact, unknown on the company.

You can then use the 'Edit record' workflow action to copy the value from the contact object into the company.

Have a look and let me know if you have any follow-up questions!
