Company with Multiple Domains Causing Major Duplication Issues
SOLVE
We often have clients and or prospects that have multiple domains. This is causing a HUGE duplication issue in our HubSpot instance. Since HubSpot only uses the Domain to de-duplicate we are forever merging. Often Clients have .CA, .COM, .EU etc. Could HubSpot please have an alternative way to check for duplication besides the Domain? Perhaps if there is a Company with a Similar name ASK before a new one is created? Salesforce had this function. It didn't ONLY look at the domain but also the name and address. Any thoughts? This is making my Admin work a headache.
I'm not aware of any out of the box functionalities in HubSpot. As usual, this can probably be achieved with custom code actions in Operations Hub. Alternatively, unless you're dealing with very large numbers of records, Insycle might be a good option to evaluate.

@SComeau I am really sorry that you are in such a frustrating situation here. Honestly speaking, I would say that it is incredibly unlikely that HS is going to release any alternative de-duplication options for companies soon.
This is definitely a problem that I see mentioned often here on the forums. Unfortunately I do not know of a good solution for this directly in HubSpot, other than merging manually.
But if you were open to using a HubSpot app I believe it can help you with your duplicates due to multiple domains problem. In full disclosure, I work for Insycle.
Insycle allows you to identify and bulk merge duplicates using and field in your database. So that alone would provide you with added flexibility in how you identify and merge company duplicates.
But Insycle has a couple of features that are ideal for your use case:
Insycle can ignore domain extensions and subdomains. So "HubSpot.com," "HubSpot.co," and "App.HubSpot.com" could all be identified and duplicates and merged in bulk.
Insycle also offers similar matching options (instead of exact match), which can be another way to compare domains, URLs, or names.
Since Insycle allows you to use any field to identify duplicates, you could also deduplicate using data like Company Name, Full URLs, phone numbers, emails, etc. Using other identifying fields you'll be able to identify and merge more duplicates.
Once your template is setup, you can schedule it to run automatically (daily/weekly/monthly). Or you could insert an Insycle Recipe directly into a HubSpot workflow, so that the deduplication happens immediately after the data hits HubSpot CRM, automatically.
If you'd like to learn more, here is a help article on Insycle's deduplication module.
Hope that was helpful! Here's a screenshot of what this might look like.
