Company Industry Taxonomy

In Sales Enterprise, we need more detail in the Industry property for Company records. I see that we can now add to the built-in list of values in the Industry property. 

I also see that the built-in AI tool that auto-populates the industry field is active, but can it make use of the added values that we would append to the list of industries?

I have built a custom property with a much better industry taxonomy, and we use this for Deals.  I am trying to decide whether to make use of it for Company records, too, and forgo the advantages of the AI, or if we should try and expand the built-in Company.industry list, with the hope that the AI is smart enough to see and understand our added values.

Hi @JRogers_LNT,

Your added values will not be considered by HubSpot Insights, I can confirm so much. It's not an AI feature, it's been around for a while to look up proprietary and open data sources, see here: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/object-settings/hubspot-insights-on-company-records

In other words, if you do add options, HubSpot will continue to only update the default ones.
