Change field type for Country/Region on Company object

Is there a way to change the field type for Country/Region on the Company object? I can change the field type for Country/Region on the Contact object (after I temporarily remove all values), but for the same field on the Company record it seems like there is no way to do it. Bizarre! Hubspot shows the message "This property's field type can't be modified."

If this field type truly has no way to be changed, does anyone know why the discrepancy between this functionality for Contact and Company objects?

I wanted to share this related feature request where other HubSpot community members and customers have requested to make the Country/Region property an editable property in HubSpot. 

I would recommend upvoting it and adding your use case in the idea thread to show your support for this feature. Our Product Team will be able to read your feedback and take it into account for potential product development in the future. 

As for the reason why this property cannot be edited, I believe it's because it's a default property in HubSpot, but I'll look into this more and come back to you on this thread when I have more information. 🙂
