Change a label in a property

SOLVE

Hi,

My sales team wants to change the input they have in a custom property. They already use that propery, but want to change some of the inputs they can choose from (so not completely change all options). I am aware that internal name can't be changed.

Is changing a few labels a good practice and how will it impact reporting? And are there any other things to consider when changing already exisiting inputs to custom properties?

Thanks!

Hi @EVatsev

Changing a few labels in a custom property is generally fine, but you should consider its impact on reporting. If your team already uses these properties in workflows, lists, or reports, modifying the labels can affect consistency in historical data. Reporting might be affected if filters or segmentations were based on the old labels. Make sure to inform your team and update any documentation or training.

Change a label in a property

Hi @EVatsev

so it depends on how the values are going to change

if the sales team is thinking about adjusting text like Contacting > Replaced by Getting in touch

the goal 'd be similar so even though the internal value doesn’t change, you can easily understand that is the same value.

When the value they need is completely different, I'd suggest adding a new value to the property, not changin the current ones.

Sometimes we need to add new options that 'd mean recategorazing old ones, so in this case we merge the old values into the new ones so no info is lost.

Hope this helps
