Categorizing certain contactsSOLVE

I need to know the importance of certain contacts. What is the best way todo this? Currently I am using the lead status field AND this may not serve me well when other infomraiton will need to be tracked.
If you are using a custom field, what are the pros and cons of this?

Using a custom property for this is a good idea because you can keep it seperate from properties with names that might already mean something to other users - i.e. lead status which is commonly used to track lead qualification/development progress - and, in HubSpot, you can use that property to build and sort views/lists, trigger workflows, etc.
I can't think of a better way to do that with a custom property right now.
