There's actually two problems here. The first is finding at least one contact name following an import from a spreadsheet that did not contain that contact. The company was in the spreadsheet, the contact was not.
Secondly, since the whole import process was a mess, I wanted to delete the contacts and start again. But apparently I can't do that for some reason.
I am trying out this software and I had this issue too. Very frustrating UI design. The number value already appearing in the field indicates the value is already present. This default value is not valid unless typed in again by the user, in which the text goes from dark grey to black. Please update this issue as new users will not know the value isn't valid unless typed again for some reason.
If you go to your import screen and view the import logs, does it show a number of contacts that were successfully imported or do they appear as errors? If you did have successful new records, you should be able to hover and view the contacts that were imported.
As far as the delete issue, I'm not sure what might cause that. I could probably tell you more if we were to do a screen share. If you're interested, please feel free to book time to my calendar.
