Can you nest/tier dropdown options for a contact property?

For example....

I want to setup two custom contact properties 1) State and 2) Region

Each option in Region is specific to an option in State.

When I add a Contact, I want to enter their State, and then pick a Region but I only want to see the Regions for that State.

There doesn't appear to be any method to configure properties this way.

The only workaround I can currently think of doing this is to merge State and Region into a single property, and also to merge their options.

Does anyone have any other ideas on how to do this?

Hey @theofryersmith, would I be correct in understanding that you are looking to create Parent/Child contact properties? This feature is now in Beta! Read more here: http://ux.hubspot.com/beta/crm-parent-child-relationships

Hey @roisinkirby, the parent/child relationship between companies is great but not quite what I was looking for...I wanted to setup a relationship between two dropdown contact properties within the same contact e.g. State and Region. Something similar to what this user is asking for...

I see! Thank you for clarifying.

At this time this is not possible. @kcooper has some great tips on the thread you linked above. While Parent/Child contact properties will soon be released as  feature which will allow you to link contact properties, it isn't be possible to control the contact property options that display between properties.

Association must be dne via Parent/Child realtionships.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I've never seen that kind of conditional logic in Hubspot. The only way i can think of doing this is by using a workflow that scrubs the database with logic like: when state = X then region = Y.

Hi Theo,

I also ran into the same problem (wanting a dropdown within a dropdown) and the solution I've applied is for deals and pipelines (I'm not sure if that helps?)

But anyway, "Reason for Loss" is a custom deal property dropdown with 4 options in my application, but the "lost to competitor" option needs options below it too (as to why it was lost to the competitor) - so my solution was to automate a task to the contact owner (workflow) to define why the deal was lost to the competitor, only if that option was selected. So from there, they get a notification to fill out the additional "reason lost to competitor" property.

Hope this helps
