Can an assigned lead be reassigned by registering for different events

The same person registers for two different events 4 months apart. In our workflow a registrant is assigned immediately to the advisor hosting that event. If they went and registered for another event in another state 4 months later would our workflow reassign the lead to the new advisor hosting this second event? Or would the contact be flagged as assigned already? Any help would be wonderful!

Correct, the workflow logic (it could be done in a shorter way, see below) would be this:

If you're working with the "Rotate contact between" option however, there's an even quicker solution: Simply don't check the "Overwrite if contact has an existing owner" checkbox:

Now, HubSpot will only rotate the record if the contact does not have an owner yet.

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for your responds. Yes, we are rotating contacts between multiple owners. I do want to keep it with the orginal owner.

So I just need to need "Contact owner is unknown" to my if/then branch. Correct? This has been so helpful

Hi @AKoury,

How are you currently assigning the contact owner? Are you rotating contacts between multiple owners?

In any case, if you're assigning a contact owner via workflow, the default behavior is that HubSpot will overwrite the existing value in the Contact owner field. (This can be avoided with a branch or enrollment criterion that checks whether "Contact owner is unknown". If you wanted to keep the original contact owner, that is. But it doesn't sound like that's what you want.)

If you don't have a "Contact owner is unknown" check somewhere in your workflow, HubSpot would (re-)assign that contact for the next event.

You can always check whether this works as expected by enrolling a test contact in the workflow, to make sure.

Let me know if you need further assistance!

Hi @AKoury ,

I hope you might be using the action 'rotate contact to owner' to assign the contacts from the workflow:

Yes, once the contact enroll into the second workflow four months later and you are assigning the contact to the different owner, then the contact owner will be changed.

Hope this helps!
