Calculated Property - Based on Products

SOLVE

Is there a way to make a calculated property based upon products?

I'm thinking of something like: you sell coffee, tea, and snacks. All of these are products in their own product folders, but you use them all the tell the total amount of the deal. However, you'd like to have a property on the deal that tells you the total amount of coffee on that deal. Is there any way to do this?

I'm curious about this. I have line items in our product library and I want to take the unit cost and multiply it by another number to get the unit price. I was able to create a trigger to look at line items and make the calculation but it won't let me put the value anywhere but the deal itself. We have Operations Hub and Custom Objects if that helps.

Calculated Property - Based on Products

I need a calculated property on the line item (product) property for something like "Total MSRP". Here's the situation:

Customer buys.

Line Item A: Unit Price $10: Quantity 1

Line Item B: Unit Price $5: Quantity 3

Line Item C: Unit Price $20: Quantity 1

I need to show that the total MSRP of Line Item B is $15, EVEN IF the rep gave a discount. I can't use Net Price for this because that would be calculated on Quantity AND Unit Discount.

So basically, I need to figure out the total WORTH of a deal regardless of whether my rep gave any discounts out to that person. It should be as easy as calculating UNIT PRICE times QUANTITY.

Any ideas?

@jolson829 : Did you already do this in a calculated field on the Deal? This is also solvable by Operations Hub.

For the calculated field you will need to do the calculation of the MSRP of the line items as you mentioned multiplied by the quantity to get your total in the field.  You then have to use a workflow to update the amount on the deal to reflect that number. Basically overriding whatever HubSpot automatically calculated. This will not change until you make a change on the line items again. In which case you need to make sure your workflow can re-enroll. Let me know if this helps.

@bmoore509

At this time this functionality is not available.  Calculations do not use any product properties for population.

Can you tell me more about this calculation?  If it is in Products it will show on the deal.  I may not be understanding what data you are trying to see.

Thanks for your reply! The big thing is really being able to report on it in mass - not necessarily looking at one opp. The ultimate goal would be to roll up the amount of coffee, tea, and snacks sold separately.

I.E.

Deal 1: $2 Coffee, $5 snacks

Deal 2: $3 Coffee, $2 tea

Deal 3: $2 tea, $7 snacks

Roll that up to: $5 coffee, $12 snacks, $4 tea

But it doesn't seem like I can export something out of Hubspot that would allow me to see all the individual products, which is why I was hoping to create a calculated field that would sum up the total of the different types of products.

@bmoore509This popped up again because of  @pappah in my email.

As I thought about it more....

Have you looked at cross-object reporting?  This may be an easy way to get the report you need and you can export the data.

Just create a custom report. Choose cross-object, then select deals and products.  From there you can filter and add columns.

I will try and create a video for you and post it here later today.

@warrendavey sadly cross-object reports don't work either for what I am looking for.

@warrendavey It ultimately doesn't work for my problem because I would need it to be on the deal property for when other people pull reports. (Right now we only use "coffee" as our deal amount and have custom fields for the other types. If we used the products, our amount would then be higher which would be fine if I could capture the types of the deal.)

There are workarounds I could do - but ultimately I need it to be friendly to people who are not Hubspot experts. (We also have limited reports, so...)
