Calculate a workflow value in the Parent company based on a field in the Child of the same name

I am stumped here. I need to take the total number in a custom Slots field and total them in the Parent company field called Slots. I am trying to roll up the total number of slots for the parent from the numbers in the children. I wanted to do this in a workflow to automatically update the Parent Slots view, as the Children Slot numbers will vary over time.

Example

Parent     Slots   2000 This figure equals the number of slots all Child

Child       Slots   1000

Child       Slots   1000

Any idea on how to accomplish this?
