CVR as Unique ID?

SOLVE

@Thomas_Oreskov

  1. Yes, HubSpot will always follow these rules and use company domain name and record ID for deduplication, yes: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/deduplication-of-records#automatic-deduplication-in-hubspot – on top of that, you can specify additional unique properties, see my previous reply.
  2. If you don't have a record ID, you would simply not include that column. However, during the import process, you (a) have to choose to create/update companies and not just update companies (the latter wouldn't work due to the lack of the record ID or company domain name) and (b) you would simply not attempt to map the record ID.
  3. This depends on which information you have on your companies.
    1. If you have the company domain name ( = website) maintained on company records, HubSpot will update those existing records based on the company domain name once you map this field as part of the import. If you don't map neither the record ID nor the company domain name, HubSpot is forced to create duplicates.
    2. If you have neither, to avoid duplicates you would first have to export your existing companies, then use VLOOKUP or INDEXMATCH in Excel to populate the exported record ID in the file you want to import. It's a bit of work, I'm not going to lie. But again, without company domain name and record ID, HubSpot cannot update existing companies.
  4. HubSpot doesn't always succeed in automatically recognizing column headers. I wouldn't spend too much time on trying to fix it – since it's only a few clicks to manually map.

Best regards!

CVR as Unique ID?

SOLVE

Hi,

Did you export this list from HS? If not, once you upload a new list and create a company, HS automatically populates the record ID. Thus, you don't need to have a column for this in your file.

Add a column with the unique ID that you created (CVR) and that's it.

I also suggest adding company domains...

Hi,

You can also create this property (CVR) as a unique property.

CVR as Unique ID?

SOLVE

Hi @Thomas_Oreskov,

The record ID is assigned by HubSpot upon record creation in HubSpot, it's not editable.

While you can create an additional custom unique property and import CVR into it, you cannot use the HubSpot record ID. It's view only and assigned automatically.

https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/create-and-edit-properties

Importing the record ID always means previously having exported it from HubSpot.

CVR as Unique ID?

SOLVE

Hi @karstenkoehler

Thank you for that VERY fast reply. 🙂

A) So there is no way to decide what ID to use. Hubspot makes it, and then use that one, when its propogated... right?

B) So when importing new companies, have a field called "Record-ID" in excel, and make it blanc.... right?
C)   And use the ID from allready importet companies in Hubspot, so I dont make duplicates... right?

D) One tiny thing left. I have made a colonm in excel called "Record ID", but I cant get Hubspot to assign the field in Import automatickly. I have tried different spellings. Anyway to fix that?
