Beyond creating a custom field, anyway to track when a contact was added?

I'd rather not create a custom field for "Date Added".
I'd like to know if there is already something I can search in order to see what contacts have been added to my CRM in the last week either through imports, form fills or any other means of adding a contact.
I want to exclude date modified as that's not what I'm looking for. Only new names/leads added to the CRM.
Does this have to be a custom field or is there already something which I just can't seem to find to filter by?
