Best Practice for capturing offline lead referrals?

SOLVE

Hi

I do a lot of Networking and end up meeting a lot of people. We offer a referral fee of 15% to anyone who introduces us to a new client.

So I often get referrals from people stating someone passed on my card or I am referred by Ms. xyz etc.

I am trying to find the best possible way to capture the names of 'Who referred me?' so that once the deal is won and complete I can give them their referral fee.

I know there is an original source field but I am not sure if this will help solve the problem.

Eg. I want to be able to:

Filter by Source - Website, Networking, Email Campaign etc..

Then by Networking Event so eg. Expo 2015, Expo 2016

Then by Name of referee so eg. Ms. Jones, Ms. Sandhu etc..

Unless there is an easier way someone has figured out already.

Thank you in advance.

Hi @idigitalise! You should be able to accomplish all of this by creating custom contact properties in the CRM: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/articles/kcs_article/settings/how-do-i-create-a-property-in-the-crm

I would reocmmend creating the three properties you mentioned:

- Source

- Networking Event

- Name of Referree

You can fill these out as you go along, either manually or in your spreadsheet, and then import them into your CRM.

Finally, you can create a series of custom views to filter by these properties. For instance, "Source is equal to Networking AND Networking Event is equal to Expo 2016 AND Name of Referee is equal to Ms. Jones".

All my best,

May

Actually, the way this "should" be done is by creating a property that is a relationship to the contact object. Basically, a drop-down list having as options all contacts available in Hubspot.

Is that something Hubspot is working on?
