Automatically moving deals through pipeline based on renewal date?
SOLVE
Hi there,
We use HubSpot for our sales pipeline, and have a workflow in place to create a new deal in our CS/Renewal pipeline when a deal closes. We would like to be tracking how far the customer is from their renewal date. We created a custom field for Contract Renewal Date, and have built a pipeline with stages based on how far the renewal date is from now.
Where we are getting stuck is creating a workflow to automatically move the deals through the pipeline based on the renewal date (ie. when it gets to being 90 days away from renewal date, move to stage Renewal in Next 3 Months).
Is this possible to do, or does anyone have their similarly setup? Open to all ideas and feedback for making your renewal pipeline efficient and keeping you on track for what is upcoming.

We've built a Recipe to handle Renewals. A Recipe is a small process that you can install in your HubSpot portal. This doesn't require any third-party tool.
Renewal deals are created automatically for each closed-won deals with a known contract end date. Then, a task is generated with a reminder date XX days before that contract end date to notify the deal owner (or another user of your choice) that the renewal is coming soon.
Other settings and configurations are also available to suit your use case.
If you are interested, we can have a chat to setupthis recipeon your HubSpot portal.
@Josh's answer is spot on (and the most efficient way for sure!) if you are using Sales Hub Pro or Enterprise added on to your Marketing Pro/Enterprise plan.
If you don't have Sales Pro a workaround you can use is to create a workflow based on a date property (the renewal date) and then within that flow, create tasks for an internal team member to make the move manually for various stages/properties. Since you already have a time line they're moving through, you can add in some additional automated engagement opportunties too.
